3 of the Philippines’ Cheapest Puffs

As a Filipino smoker, I surprisingly know of the perils that one gets from doing this pesky habit. After all, the government has recently made a move to stop the number of smokers in the country by putting fines in cities. And with this move, comes anti-smoking advocacy campaigns that tell all of the diseases and consequences that smokers face. The thing is, even though I want to stop – I really, really do – the addictive properties of nicotine and tobacco is strongly highlighted by one, important factor. Cigarettes are really cheap in Smoky Philippines! Such so, that one can even buy cigarettes from the many vendors out in the streets. If you are smoker, who happens to chance himself in the country, you may want to check these cheap, yet satisfying brands:

Philip
For that smooth menthol taste, grab a Philip Morris stick. Often just called Philip in the streets, this brand’s menthol taste is even better with his length. Philip sticks are often smoked by people in a tight, financial pinch – either you don’t have the coins or change to buy a single stick of cigarette, but just want to puff away. Prices range for this stick, with a single stick amounting to just P2.50, and a single pack at around 25 to 30 pesos.

Fortune
If you want to save money, but wouldn’t want to smoke a menthol stick, go for Fortune. Fortune cigarettes would cost at only P2.00, with some stores even selling cheaper. The most expensive pack of this sticks would cost not more than P30.00, with groceries even providing a full pack for just P16.00. The great thing about Fortune is that its taste is at par with some of the most expensive brands in the market (Marlboro), without having to shell out too much dough.

Astro
If you are familiar with the Radioactive Sago Project’s song, then you may mistake this brand with something illegal. But yes, there is an Astro cigarette. Commonly found only in provincial parts of the country, this hard-hitting cigarette is dirt cheap! At only just 1 peso a stick – some even gong lower as 50 centavos – Astro is the greatest brand in terms of price. Whether it be Reds, Lights or in Menthol, this particular brand has everything to quench each Filipino smokers’ tastes.
